DeSoto Private School Executive Board Update
May 18, 2020
Dear Parents and Students,
We are closing in on the end of the school year. The last official day is May 29th. The COVID-19 Pandemic has challenged our communities, our country, and our world in ways that we’ve never experienced. We are so thankful for our frontline workers, including doctors, nurses, first responders and many others, who work tirelessly to keep us safe. We are honored to be able to provide daycare for these essential personnel.
We want to thank our students and parents for all their hard work in the last several weeks. The last home study packet will be available on
May 18th. All completed work must be turned in by May 28th (revised date). Please make sure children put their names, dates, and headings on their paper.
All textbooks, library books, and any other materials belonging to the school must be turned in on Thursday, May 28th between
8:00-1:00. First and Second grade students may drop off books in the main building. Please attach a notecard with your student’s name on the books. Third-Sixth grade students may drop off their books and pick up their personal supplies in the annex building. Textbooks and library books should be placed on the student’s desk. There will be notecards with the students’ names on a desk near the front door. Please place your notecard on top of the stack of the books you are returning. It is suggested that you bring a box or bag to carry home personal supplies that may be in your desk or locker. Mrs. Ashford will be monitoring the procedures. Only one family will be allowed in each classroom at a time.
We will have Kindergarten and Sixth Grade graduation ceremonies in the annex parking lot on Friday, May 29th. We will honor our Sixth Graders at 10:00 in the morning. We will celebrate our Kindergarteners at 1:00 and 2:30 in the afternoon. (Please do not drop off books on Friday, as we will be very busy with graduations!) A separate information sheet regarding rules and procedures will be attached to Sixth Grade and Kindergarten home study packets and posted on our website.
Teachers, working in shifts, continue to work on cleaning, organizing, and disinfecting the building. We are also making repairs, painting, and making adjustments to room designs in order to make spaces more functional to meet social distancing guidelines.
We will continue to offer day care into the summer months. We will be transitioning into our summer program in the next few weeks. Stay tuned for more updates!
Re-enrollment packets for the 2020-2021 school year have been mailed out. If you did not receive yours, please contact the front office. Enrollment forms are due on June 1st. After June 1st, enrollment will be opened to the public.
We hope your family continues to stay safe and healthy. Please call the front office if you have any questions! Thank you!
